SCHERENSCHNITTE ????

—-is the German word for scissors cutting.   This is done by using small sharp scissors made especially for this art,  cutting the design from paper and attaching to a background sheet with tiny dots of glue.   I used to do a lot of this art, and have a huge album full of cut images ready to mount on background paper.    Here are a couple I thought you would be interested in seeing.  Scherenschnitte Scherenschnitte 1

The one on red background is the Twelve Days of Christmas, and the one on blue is a depiction of Noah’s Ark.   Both are made by folding the paper in half and cutting half of the image through both thicknesses.  It is tedious work, but I love doing it.   I think I will frame the red one and hang it for Christmas.   Both would fit a standard 8-1/2 x 11 frame, or could be matted with a 11 x 14 mat and framed.  I will have some more images to show you soon.

Thanks for stopping by today.  See you soon.
