Rainy days at the Beach

One of the members of our monthly Bible study group has a house at Oak Island, one of the North Carolina beaches south of Wilmington and she invited us to spend a few days at her house.  Four of us –Nell Richardson, my daughter Carol, our hostess Sue Klase and I left Sunday afternoon(Oct.6) and made our way southeast to the coast.  The weather man was predicting rain, and we had rain every day we were there. Despite the clouds and showers, we enjoyed every minute.  We had our monthly Bible study (OF COURSE),  walked on the beach, played cards –Kings in the Corner and SkipBo– as well as Mexican Train dominoes.

AND no trip to a NC beach is complete without a trip to Calabash for a seafood meal.   We chose the Seafood Hut, across the street from Ella’s, and for lunch on a 60 degree rainy, off-season midweek day, there was a line outside the door.  After a short wait, we were seated and enjoyed the great seafood there.  On the way back to Sue’s house, we HAD TO make a couple of thrift store stops, and returned home to play more cards and dominoes.

Carol is not in any of the pictures except one, because she was the photographer!  Sorry, Carol.

Thank you, Sue, for your hospitality and the opportunity to spend a few happy days together. It was wonderful!

Thanks for stopping in today.  See you next time.

Sarah. it is great to see you are traveling, doing creative things and enjoying life after all you have been thru. Makes me know there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is the sunshine, not a train. Keep going girl! Mary Russ

Mrs. Stainback, I enjoyed seeing the photos of your trip to Oak Island. It brought back memories of the week Sarah Jane and myself, along with other girls from Midwood Baptist spent at nearby Fort Caswell during G.A. Camp when we were teens. I’m so glad you’re able to travel and continue to be so active. Take care.
